Co-creating an ethical framework for social media use in prevention trials

Our research team will co-create guidelines that address the risks and benefits of social media use in dementia research. Our goal is to help researchers and participants connect on social media in a way that is ethical and beneficial for all.

Why is this research important?

Dementia research is still receiving limited engagement and low enrolment numbers, especially in diverse populations. Social media offers new ways to overcome geographical and financial barriers and can increase awareness of important dementia research.

The aim of this research study is to co-create practical guidelines for researchers using social media in prevention trials.

We are recruiting!

Who can participate?

In an effort to be inclusive of a diversity of voices and experiences, this study is seeking:
  • Individuals with diverse cultural, linguistic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds
  • People with lived experiences of dementia and care partners
  • Researchers or experts working in dementia research
  • People interested in dementia research and social media

International participants are welcome!

What does the study involve?

The study involves a one-time, 30-45 minute virtual interview about your views on social media and dementia research. You do not need to have any experience with social media to participate.

Participants will receive a $25 gift card to a major online retailer.
